Abstract |
Objective It is sometimes difficult to determine the recur of the high grade glioma after operation, radiation therapy, chemotherapy,
etc. We assess the usefulness of the perfusion magnetic resonance image (MRI) in the brain tumors.
Materials and Methods: We examined 8 patients with histologically verified gliomas (7 with high grade and 1 with low grade
glioma.) Conventional MRI demonstrated peripherally enhancing mass with central necrosis and moderate to severe surrounding
T2 hyperinternsity suggesting an infiltrating high grade glioma.
Results Perfusion MRI was performed and demonstrated no hyperperfusion within the lesion and surrounding T2 signal abnormality
in the radiation necrosis patients. In three patients, stereotactic biopsy was underwent and showed radiation necrosis.
Conclusion Perfusion MRI imaging is a useful and reliable technique for diagnosis of the recurred gliomas. |
