Abstract
Carpal tunnel syndrome is the most common entrapment neuropathy in the upper extremities. This report is based on last ten years of our experience since 1995 by observing 61 hands of 59 carpal tunnel syndrome patients surgically treated with 3M Agee endoscopic carpal tunnel release system. The following parameters were age, sex, Levine symptom severity scale, Levine functional severity scale, and so on. The age range of patients was from 33 to 71 years old (average 53.3). The peak age group was sixth decade. Right hands were affected predominantly followed by both hands and left hands. Tingling sensation and pain were presented in all hands followed by Tinel's sign in 60%, Phalen's sign in 62% and thenar muscle atrophy in 37%. The postoperative results were excellent in 58% of patients, good in 32%, fair in 3% and poor in 7%. There were no major neurovascular complication. From these results we stress that carpal tunnel syndrome can be treated well by endoscopic surgery.
Key Words: Carpal tunnel syndrome, Agee endoscopic carpal tunnel release system, Postoperative results.
