Abstract
Although percutaneous central venous (CV) catheterization has many benefits, it can be associated with adverse events that are potentially harmful to the pediatric patient. Here, we present a rare case of a 9-year-old girl who after general anesthesia for brain surgery underwent CV catheterization, which led to postoperative lethal pleural effusion. We also review the literature to avoid this fatal complication.
Key Words: Central venous catheterization, Pediatrics, Pleural effusion.
