Abstract
We present a case of a 59-year-old female with trigeminal neuralgia associated with an arachnoid cyst located in the cerebellopontine angle. Radioimaging studies were inconclusive for vascular compression but showed that the right fifth nerve was compressed by an arachnoid cyst. The patient underwent surgical exploration, and a cystic lesion with multiple layers containing cerebrospinal fluid was excised and fenestrated. The patient obtained immediate pain relief postoperatively. Formation of an ar-achnoid cyst could be a reason for secondary trigeminal neuralgia.
Key Words: Arachnoid cyst, Trigeminal neuralgia, Cerebellopontine angle.
