Abstract |
We report a case of a pericallosal artery aneurysm mimicking a falx meningioma. A 54-year-old woman was admitted to a local clinic for regular checkup. A brain computed tomography on admission showed a focal nodular high intensity lesion in the anterior interhemispheric fissure. Brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed strong contrast enhancement after gadolinium injection. Location and radiological appearance of the lesion resembled that of a falx meningioma, except for the finding of signal void and vascular connection to the distal anterior cerebral artery. After cerebral angiography, the nodular lesion was diagnosed as an aneurysm arising from the pericallosal artery. The patient was successfully treated via surgical clipping. We should consider the possibility of a pericallosal artery aneurysm when an enhancing nodular lesion is located in the anterior interhemispheric fissure, adjacent to the distal anterior cerebral artery. |
