Abstract |
Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is intractable pain disease by medical treatment. But practice guidelines for invasive procedure of medically intractable PHN are unclear and it is not clear to apply to individual cases. In our study, the effect of Pulsed Radiofrequency (PRF) rhizotomy was described in old patient with PHN which have been poorly controlled with oral and invasive treatments. PRF (pulsed dose mode : 900Hz, 42C, 65V) immediately relieved pain with VAS (Visual Analogue Scale) from 7 to 1. Pain relief persisted during the first month (VAS, 2). After three months, pain slightly relapsed to VAS 3–4, but medication was significantly decreased for the first three months (no pregabalin). None of the complications due to PRF was observed for patient with PHN on L2–3 dermatome. Fortunately, The results have been remarkable and should encourage further research into this technique. |
